The Council of Patients

Cooperates with the Council of Relatives which functions under the jurisdiction of The Joint Municipal Authority for Medical and Social Services in North Karelia.

• brings forward discussion concerning quality verification and rights securing in psychiatric institutional and outpatient care, and enhancement proposals
• convenes two to three times a year
• puts forward critique and proposals involved in mental care services, which are delivered by a patient representative to the Council of Relatives to deal with
• The Council of Patients is not a part of the mental care system but an independent body
• a member of the council must have personal experience in psychiatric treatment
